In the 3rd seminar, the professor talked about the wisdom of crowds. From James' research, it shows individual may behave different if they are in a team, because they have more consideration such as the role and responsibility in the team. when i took the subject "human resource management", it introduced the topic of organisation behaviour which briefly mention this kind of group phenomenon as well...
whether group performance is better or worse than the individuals, i think it is case by case. The professor gave 2 examples which illustrate that the more people from different background may have different perspective and considerations, and the overall decision can be more balanced with minimized individual bias. in this scenario, the collective wisdom outperforms individuals.
But if the status of group member is not equal, what they say may not be what they think. this reservation and distortion of their true think can severely undermine the wisdom of crowds. when more people are in a team, the effectiveness and efficiency of implementing a task are likely reduced significantly.
as technology is progressing so fast, it generates lots of business opportunity. this course teaches us to be visionary enough to discover and seize these opportunity, and try to implement it to generate profit. For example, the mobile-commerce, it can provide customized service. the main point is that from their movements, it can predict customer's need, and initiate value-added information and services to enhance customers' satisfactory. many new ideas from the professor really interested me very much. although it still have some technical difficulties and cooperation barriers to apply them in real business right now, it outlines the future development of this industry. as the competition between all the inform-communication companies are intense, only the one mastering and provideing mobile-services can stand out and survive in this mature market.
our final presentation requires use of flash, as a flash-illiterate, i have done some searching in internet. i have found certain real good website teaching basic flash knowledge

html
The add-and-drop period is over so that there is no way to withdraw but progress forward bravely to survive in this course...
First of all, i should clarify that our lecture is kind and senior as a teaching staff in NBS, and also experienced in the field of both technology and e-business.
i like the cosy atmosphere during the course which is quite friendly and open for discussion. this nurtures an inductive learning environment in which students can take more initiatives to contribute and share their ideas in class. it adds values to the whole class and everyone contributes and benefits.
although the course usually lasts less than 3 hours, we have to do much more self-learning beyond the class. actually before session 2, i had followed the instructions from the websites to try out certain basic html-writing in my previous blog. that is why there are some bizarre sentences and tables there. after session2, the w3schools website is even more comprehensive and informative which demonstrate various html applications with examples. we can edit html and get hand-on experience of how to write html in an expected manner. it is very beneficial and facilitating me to grasp the rough idea what html is about.
i would like to learn more about html, then with solid foundation, i can touch on the learning of xhtml and css. more effort will be put in this course for enriching and preparing myself for the challenges in the future.

First lesson of MB362
Last friday, i have attended the first lecture of MB362 which is my last business-minor subject.
It is more challenging than i expected. As what will be taught in the lesson is quite new to me, and i can probably learn more from this course because i lack the knowledge in this field. Just do my best to learn as much as i can disregarding the grade. i will cherish this course as an oppotunity to learn, rather than a subject to get a reasonable grade...
The class is rather small that many people did not show up in the first session. That is quite odd.
The teacher is a kind old man from USA. Finally i can hear some excellent english.
Hopefully i can survive in this course, more importantly i can enjoy the whole process of learning and appreciate the last semester in my university life...
